Can we detect unknown viruses?

Almost any anti-virus product claims - "we will detect 100% of known viruses". OK, but what about unknown viruses? If you realize that hundreds of new viruses are created every month, try to imagine how many viruses your "guard" would miss if it was only checking your computer for known viruses.

This will not happen if you use AVG Anti-Virus Systems. Many years ago, we decided to be stricly focused one, very specific approach known as "Heuristic analysis". This function works in the same manner as a very good, experienced, human being - a virus researcher. It checks instructions of analysed files, emulates them and examines what would happen if this file were really run. Using this approach AVG can decide if the analysed code is not the "correct code", but it is "up to standard" or a virus code.

Result - AVG does not need to have a "virus description" in its virus database to be able to detect it. AVG will detect a virus, because it is a virus. Don't worry about unknown viruses, but only, if you use AVG!
